It’s 7 PM, you have one clean pan and zero patience. Shrimp cooks in about three minutes, so dinner is done before you’d even pick a takeout spot. Like every dinner in this set, it uses five main ingredients. Oil, salt, pepper and dried spices don’t count, because they already live in your kitchen.
It’s one of the meals from our guide to 5-ingredient clean dinners, and it’s built the Clean Fit Fab way: real food, big flavor, and no seed oils.
Why this garlic butter shrimp works on tired nights
- Shrimp is the fastest protein there is. Two to three minutes and it’s done.
- The tomatoes make the sauce. They burst in the hot pan and turn jammy.
- Spinach wilts in seconds. So you get greens with no extra pot.
- Butter plus lemon tastes like a restaurant. Even though it took 15 minutes.
Seafood twice a week is a common healthy eating goal. The Harvard Nutrition Source guide to fish explains why it earns a regular spot.
The flavor: what makes it taste so good
Plain shrimp can taste flat. So we season it before it hits the pan, then let garlic bloom in butter at the end so it never burns.
- Smoked paprika and garlic powder on the shrimp
- Red pepper flakes for gentle heat
- Five fresh garlic cloves in sizzling butter
- Lemon zest and juice to wake it all up
What you need
Here’s a quick look at the ingredients. Exact amounts are in the recipe card below.
- The 5 ingredients: large wild shrimp, cherry tomatoes, garlic cloves, baby spinach, lemon
- Pantry: extra virgin olive oil, butter, smoked paprika, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, sea salt, black pepper
Also, a note on fat: we cook with extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, butter or ghee. They taste better, and they’re real food.

Make-ahead and storage tips
Garlic butter shrimp is best fresh. Leftovers keep for 2 days in the fridge. Reheat gently in a skillet for a minute or two so the shrimp doesn’t turn rubbery.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use frozen shrimp for garlic butter shrimp?
Yes. Thaw it in a bowl of cold water for about 10 minutes, then pat it very dry so it sears instead of steams.
How do I know when shrimp is done?
It turns pink and opaque and curls into a loose C shape. A tight O shape means it’s overcooked.
What goes with this for a bigger dinner?
Serve it over rice, quinoa or polenta, or with crusty sourdough for the sauce.
